Ekta Foundation Trust is currently working on a project named as Internet Saathi. It is an initiative of Google and Tata Trust .Out of every 10 internet user only 1 in rural area is a woman. To address this huge gender gap Tata Trust and Google came together to address this and introduced a digital literacy program based on “train the trainer model”.Women from villages are trained on using the internet and are made equipped with data-enabled devices. These women are known as Internet Saathi and work as trainers, to help other women in their village to get started on their internet journey and benefit from it.
This concept has increased Internet Saathis confidence and their passion for positive change which inspired the Google and Tata trust- to work on a model facilitating digital based livelihood opportunities for the Internet Saathis along with digital literacy to enable them to continue their positive impact on their community. So Google and TATA Trust has introduced another 2 short- term projects i.e Internet Safety Program and Bolo App which facilitates digital based livelihood opportunities for the Internet Saathis along with digital literacy to enable them to continue their positive impact on their community.
Ekta Foundation is working in Dhar, Sehore, Raisen and Sagar districts of MP. The objective of the project is to train saathis in villages that can in turn help in educate other women from their village in the use of internet.
